Handicrafts

This Cluster will have members those who want to Export different types of Handicraft products. This clustering activity will be focused to promote Handicraft products export. This cluster can join hands with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) for cluster activities. A few years back, Handicrafts has seen a fall in Exports, but thanks to the initiatives taken by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts that has brought a significant rise in Exports.

EPCH has actively participated in Trade Fairs abroad to showcase the art wares, wood wares, handmade articles, handmade knitted ware and paper works made in India.

Handicraft Sector in Tamilnadu is one of the growing sectors which is home to Tanjore paintings, Brass and Bronze Lamps, Rosewood carvings, Sandalwood Carvings, Palm mats and Wooden Wares.

The Handicrafts Cluster under Export Promotion Centre, Madurai is headed by Mr. Venkatesh and was formerly headed by the present President of Madurai EPC chapter Mr. A.K.S.Annamalai who has rich experience in handicrafts sector. The Handicraft Cluster with more than 70 members have taken initiative to visit trade fairs in and around Madurai and have organised various cluster meetings every year to encourage the budding exporters.
